I purchased both the "Print Shop' and the "Print Shop Companion" at a local computer store sale last year just after subscribing to your Big Blue Disks, and I registered with Broderbund as a purchaser. On Big Blue's GRBBD16 there is a graphic named 'TREE' which I tried to enhance to my liking. I used the 'GRAPHIC EDITOR' in both programs but I could not get the edited version of the graphic to replace the graphic on GRBBD16. The editor simply placed the revised graphic into my own graphic file called 'GRDATA'. I have an IBM clone with a 20 meg hard disk. I keep the "Print Shop" and all the graphics from the Big Blue Disks in a directory. I also have graphics which I purchased from an ad in 'PC Resource' magazine. If I use the Print Shop graphics editor to edit a graphic, how can I get the graphic of that particular file to be changed instead of the edited graphic being inserted into a file from which I did not get the graphic? I got a graphic from file GRBBD16 by using F1 or CTRL G, edited it, then saved it using F2 or CTRL S, and then gave it the original name, why didn't the saved graphic replace the graphic I retrieved form GRBBD16? Individual graphics are part of a named file such as GRBBD16 or, in my own file, GRDATA. How can a graphic be extracted and sent to you for your collection? My GRDATA is now cluttered, but I would like to share 2 of my graphics with you. ^RWilliam Krichinsky ^RDundalk, Maryland ^1> The Print Shop Utility program is for managing your Print Shop files, a ^1>capability that Print Shop and Print Shop Companion do not have. I do not ^1>know why Print Shop and Print Shop Companion save automatically to GRDATA, ^1>but they do. Would you like to hear something else weird? Get an image from ^1>another file while in Print Shop. Save it. Now get the same image while in ^1>Print Shop Companion and save it with the same name. Now look at GRDATA and ^1>you will find two copies of the image. Print Shop and Print Shop Companion ^1>use different characters to expand the image name to 16 characters, so when ^1>you save, it thinks there is a different graphic on disk. I suggest you ask ^1>Broderbund about it. ^1> ^1> As for the extraction question, this is what the Print Shop Utility ^1>program is for. Use the extract image option from the menu and you can pull ^1>any image or images from the file and put them in any order in another file. |5ÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜ Dear BBD, I would like to know if anyone else is having trouble with the PSUTIL2 program as I am. It does everything except print the files and the printing feature is probably the best feature if it would only work properly. Somehow the program generates control characters within the file if the file is too big or if you have merged two or more files together or when using any of the other functions within the program like adding images. I have a Tandy DMP-132 printer which is compatible with IBM Graphics or Epson printers which is one of the most popular printers available today and no matter what I do I just cannot get it to print my image files correctly. Maybe somehow we can remedy this situation as this is an excellent program and I know that I will use it extensively providing I can print out my files with it. It would be much easier to track down a graphic image if I could print them out. Well I'll see you later and I hope together we can figure this dilemma out. ^RPhil Steinberg ^RManistee, MI ^1> If your Tandy DMP-132 is Epson compatible, then select Epson from the disk ^1>menu and it should print OK. If your printer is in Tandy mode, then select ^1>Tandy mode from the printer selection menu. If your printer is in IBM mode, ^1>then select IBM mode. You may need to make sure that all of your dip switches ^1>are set properly (refer to your printer manual for details). There are no ^1>control characters in the files no matter how big they are. The control ^1>characters for each printer are hard coded into the program. If this does not ^1>solve the problem, please let us know. |5ÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜ Dear Big Blue, I had a problem with your PRINT SHOP/PRINTMASTER UTILITY PROGRAM. When I try to extract graphics and create my own Printmaster graphic file, it appears to let me create a file. The problem is when I try to use it with Printmaster the graphics are distorted. What should be on the far right side of the graphic is on the left about 1/4 of the graphic. The rest of the graphic is to the right of this other part. I have enclosed a copy of a file I created by extracting 5 graphics. I looked at the file with PSUTIL2 and the file seemed to display and print okay, but when I tried to use them with PRINTMASTER the graphics were distorted. If you find out what the problem is please let me know. ^RPhil Alley ^RKingsport, Tennessee ^1> It seemed to work OK for me. Printmaster, Printmaster II and Printmaster ^1>Plus all read the file. You didn't state which version you had. I suspect ^1>the problem is that Printmaster expects one of two names for its image files: ^1>SLIB or ULIB. It may think the converted file is a Print Shop file and since ^1>each Printmaster image has an extra 5 bytes per image stored in the files, it ^1>will grab the wrong part of the file for each image.
