(That's for our 5 1/4" customers; to the 3 1/2" readers it's a two-disk issue.) When we first started publishing BIG BLUE DISK, it had only one disk. Soon afterward, we went to two disks, which has been standard ever since. Once in a while a special program will come along which requires more space to do it justice. That's what happened this month with ^1Proto Type^0, a touch-typing course which consists of one disk of instruction and one disk of games and exercises to complement the formal instruction. If we included this in a normal-sized issue, there wouldn't be much space left for anything else. Thus, we're breaking with tradition, making this issue the biggest we've ever published. ^1Proto Type^0 will be very useful if you'd like to enter data into your PC more rapidly and accurately, or if you use word processors to type letters and other documents. It will also help your skills with old-fashioned manual and electric typewriters, should you have occasion to use them. As usual, we've got a variety of regular material in addition to this special bonus feature. Those who enjoyed Scott Miller's ^1Kingdom of Kroz^0 game (runner-up in last year's CodeQuest contest) will like its sequel, ^1Dungeons of Kroz^0, with more caverns for you to explore in your quest for treasure. Gamers can also exercise their strategy trying to fill in a block of four spaces in ^1Squares^0. Everybody with a schedule to keep will appreciate ^1Datebook^0. ^1Print Shop^0 fans will find the flags of Europe represented in a new set of images. Those of you uncertain about which of the many display adapters is present in your system can run ^1Video Check^0 and find out. A few notes for users who like to copy BIG BLUE DISK from one disk format to another: When you copy the 5 1/4" version to 3 1/2" disks, copy the contents of disk 1 onto one 3 1/2" disk, and the contents of disks 2 and 3 together onto another. When you copy the issue (either 5 1/4" or 3 1/2") onto a hard disk, copy the contents of all of this issue's disks into a single directory as usual. In closing, let me thank all readers for making BIG BLUE DISK the most popular monthly software collection ever. Our circulation has gone up every month since our birth almost two-and-a-half years ago, and it has long since surpassed that of any other similar publications, whether published by us or a competitor. Bigger circulation means that we can budget more for acquisition of top-quality material, so you can expect to see the quality of our programs increase in the future. Stick with us and see!
