U. Plum, the curator of the Calhoon Museum, has been found dead in the museum's Dome Room. You, Inspector Claude la Mort of the Surete, have been assigned the task of investigating the case. You suspect foul play, but can you find out who murdered Plum, and why? Watch out, though; the murderer might just get you before you get him (or her)! Murder In The Museum is a text adventure game. You give it simple one- or two-word commands to tell it what you want to do, such as "OPEN SAFE." To move around, enter the single-letter abbreviations of compass directions, N, S, E, W, or U for Up and D for down. The directions you can go from any location are shown at the end of the location's description. All words besides the compass directions can be given as two-letter abbreviations. If you forget a command, type HELP for more information. Typing I (for Inventory) will get you a list of the items you are carrying. The SAVE command lets you store the game status on disk, so it can be restored later with the LOAD command. This is handy when you're about to do something that you think might have drastic consequences; it lets you back up and try again with the benefit of hindsight, a capability which would be very useful if you could do it in the "real world." Be sure to keep your wits about you as you explore the museum. Look carefully at all objects (use the command EXAMINE followed by the object's name); they may contain vital clues. If something's not pinned down, TAKE it; you'll probably need it later. And don't be afraid to experiment. If you break a few bones, it's only fiction; you won't ^1really^0 feel the pain, will you?
