I am a self-taught artist.  I entered the SF/Fantasy field as a full time professional illustrator in 1974.  My 
work has appeared on the covers of most of the science fiction/fantasy magazines, including GALAXY, 
AMAZING STORIES, FANTASTIC, and IF, and on the covers of dozens of hardcover and paperback 
books.

Before that, I worked in the electronics field for 10 years at Simmonds Precision Products helping to 
design engine power (torque) measuring systems. Before that I worked at Curtis Wright on Flight 
simulators.  Before that I worked at Dumont TV. Before that I was an instructor in the USAF teaching the 
theory and operation of facsimile machines.  And before that I was a kid who loved to draw. 

I've been a Hugo nominee 7 times for best pro artist  and a nominee for the World Fantasy Award four 
times. I won the British award for best pro artist three times.
