Overview ═══ SM Money is the premier personal finance program for OS/2. SM Money is a great program that really fills a niche. SM Money does several things that are very important: o SM Money provides a duplicate register--you have your original check register that is in your checkbook, and you also have SM Money's register. o SM Money calculates your balance automatically--and it never miscalculates. o SM Money makes it easy for you to reconcile your register with your bank statement. o SM Money looks really neat. If you continue to use SM Money after 30 days, you are expected to pay the registration fee. In essence, Shareware is "Try-Before-You-Buy" software. Try SM Money out. See what SM Money can do. Use SM Money free for up to a month. Then after you've had a chance to really see if SM Money is useful to you, either register or stop using SM Money. Also, feel free to upload SM Money to your favorite BBSes. Related Information: How to Register ═══ 2.2. How to Register ═══ SM Money is shareware. As such, if you continue to use SM Money after 30 days you are legally obligated to register. Registering SM Money brings you: o A clear conscience. Continuing to use SM Money and NOT registering would be wrong and illegal--you don't want that on your conscience, so register! o Your name in the product info dialog box where UNREGISTER currently appears. o One FREE upgrade! o Notices of upgrades. o Future upgrades at a reduced price. Registering SM Money is very easy. A registration form is included in this archive as ORDER.FRM. You can print ORDER.FRM out by typing PRINT ORDER.FRM at the OS/2 command-line. Reconcile mode makes it very simple to reconcile your checking account with your bank statement. In normal operation you will want to leave reconcile mode turned off. When you get your bank statement each month you will want to turn reconcile mode on to help you reconcile your account. Reconcile mode simply puts SM Money into a state where only cleared items figure into the balance. When you get your bank statement, turn reconcile mode on, clear the records that your statement shows, add any records that your statement shows which you don't have entered. Magically, SM Money's balance and the balance shown on your bank statement will be the same! If the balances coincide, turn reconcile off--you are done with reconcile until next month! If the balances don't coincide: o Is every transaction listed on your bank statement shown on SM Money's register? Don't forget about possible service charges! Remedy: Use Add Record to add transactions shown on your bank statment that aren't shown in SM Money's register. o Is every transaction listed on your bank statement cleared in SM Money's register? Remedy: Use Toggle Cleared to clear any transactions listed on your bank statement that aren't marked as cleared in SM Money's register. o Does SM Money's register show cleared transactions that aren't shown on your bank statement? Remedy: Use Toggle Cleared to un-clear any transaction SM Money shows as cleared which isn't listed on your bank statement. Be sure not to un-clear records that were listed on your bank statement in previous months. ═══ 6.
