Our heating cables are controlled by thermostats, which act as sophisticated on / off switches. Different types of thermostat cater for different applications. The main options are whether the unit is controlling floor temperature only, or floor and ambient room temperature together, and whether timing functions are included.
Our simplest thermostat is the Kima Combi. This has a dial for temperature control and an off switch. It has a choice of three operational modes and can be used to control floor temperature or ambient temperature only, or to control ambient temperature whilst limiting the floor temperature to 30C. Two versions are available; one with a temperature range 10-30C, and one with range 10-50C when operating in floor control mode.
For fully programmable control we have three models from Aube. These are similar in look and operation but differ in application. The TH132-A controls ambient temperature, the TH132-F controls floor temperature and the TH132-AF controls ambient and floor temperature simultaneously.
The Combi and Aube thermostats are rated at 16 amps, which is equivalent to 3.6 kW, and as such can control up to 42 square metres of Kimat-80 cable, 26 square metres of Kimat-120 cable, 420 metres of Green cable or 200 metres of Turquoise cable.
Floor areas with combined cables rated at more than 3.6 kW will use the same thermostat but the output will activate a contactor to switch the current through to the cables rather than having the current pass through the thermostat. The thermostats all fit in a standard single gang-mounting box (light switch size).
Please contact us for details and availability of other thermostats or more sophisticated control units.
