University of Kentucky Art Museum

The University of Kentucky Art Museum in Lexington has a permanent collection of nearly 4,000 works of art in a wide range of media, including European and American painting, sculpture, prints, drawings, photographs, and decorative arts. The collection also includes art from the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The mission of the museum is to enhance the quality of life for Kentuckians by promoting the understanding and appreciation of art through collecting, exhibiting, preserving, and interpreting visual artwork from all cultures.

Fayette CountyThe museum has an active Education Department, which strives to bring art to life for community members by enriching exhibitions with supplemental cultural and aesthetic information, by sponsoring special events for educators, and by providing guided tours for students and teachers. The department provides related curricula for students of all ages in order to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of their museum experience.
