The STN FDN is a member of the FidoNet filebone as well as distributed internally. The FidoNet distribution is an exact mirror of the STN distribution. To keep some semblance of order and low costs it would be best if all files to be hatched were under 500k in size *at this point in time*. This will change as soon as STN's internal distribution is more effective. Also, to keep duplications to a minimum, if any given file is already being distributed via FidoNet in one or more fileechos, please do not send it to be hatched. Special cases will be considered, however. Before a file will be hatched into the STN FDN, the following "form" should accompany the file in netmail to Gert Andersen at 111:111/2: File name : File author : File replaces (filename) : BBS-Related or Miscellaneous: Rearchive to RAR? : The RAR rearchiving is something we would particularly like to see on all files that do not have their own AV stamping. For example, a ZIP file with AV stamping by the author will be hatched as is. A ZIP file without should be considered for rearchiving. The STN FDN will rearchive the file to RAR and hatch it with the network's own AV stamping. Developers wishing to have their own file echo on the STN FDN (if not duplicated on FidoNet) will be given one. Please send netmail for more details. All other cases the file will be hatched into either STN_ABBS for BBS-Related files or STN_AMSC for miscellaneous (non BBS-related) files. Please use discretion to preserve bandwidth before sending a file to be hatched. The Sysop's TechNet reserves the right to reject hatching a file for any reason.
