*** DPIRC 1.7 *** Upgrading from earlier Versions =============================== If you run DPPP, you must use DPIRC and DPIdent from this package, not earlier versions. If you use DPLink, you must also use its latest version. In general latest versions of DPPP, DPIRC, DPLink and DPIdent must be used together, earlier versions are not compatible. Replace DPIDENT.EXE / DPID32.EXE, DPIRC(32).DLL and DPIRC2.PA with the new versions. Copy DPIRC2.INI to your \powrbbs directory. * move your DPIRC.INI from the \powrbbs directory to the \windows directory * On networked BBS's have a copy of \windows\dplink.ini on each machine! New with V 1.7 ============== The new default installation of DPIRC automatically connects callers to the Global PowrCHAT network, where they can meet callers of other PowerBBS systems. Read the enclosed PowrCHAT.RTF to learn all about it. For first-time-users the GUI version now copies the default configuration in DPIRC2.INI from your \powrbbs directory to the caller. You can configure a default set of up to 10 server addresses and channel names. If DPIRC2.INI doesn't exist in your \powrbbs directory, DPIRC creates one using the DefaultServer= and DefaultChannel entries in DPIRC.INI. The GUI version no longer connects to a server automatically on startup. Callers must press the "connect" button to connect to an IRC server. On networked BBS's DPIRC can now connect using a Proxy server on your LAN. This is transparent to the caller. See DPIRC.TXT, chapter "Proxy Support", for details. You can now configure a message to be displayed to the caller during dial-up with the PleaseWait= parameter in DPIRC.INI. A new "fixedid=" parameter can be configured in DPIDENT.INI for LAN configurations with Internet connection going through a Proxy server. See DPLINK.TXT, chapter "DPIDENT.EXE / DPID32.EXE", for details. fixed login problem with some servers fixed problem with large channel listings DPPP compatibility moved INI location to \windows made "Joined", "Parted" and "LeftIRC" messages optional You can now disable the "Joined", "Parted" and "LeftIRC" messages entirely by setting the entries in DPLINK.INI to "none". channel topics are now displayed in window titles
