User Services

The NAS Facility offers a variety of services to users of high-performance processors and to others interested in cutting-edge research projects.

Educational Resources

Annotated Visualization URLs, Tutorial in Basic Aeronautics, Space Settlements, Nanotechnology, K-12 educational resource listing, Webweavers Page, Teacher Work, and Training Events.

Consulting

The scientific consulting staff helps both production and testbed users with programming tools and techniques to optimize code performance and effectively use NAS Facility resources. Consultants specialize in Fortran 77, Fortran 90, C, and C++ programming questions. Services include applying scientific and application-specific expertise to help users develop programs, and assisting with mathematical and graphics libraries.

System Control

The User Services staff provide exceptional operational support for both production and testbed environments. The staff answers questions on computer and network status, basic system usage, system administration, and general UNIX questions.

Training

The NAS Facility provides seminars, classes, workshops, and special events on the latest advances in computing technology. Experts in fields such as nanotechnology, semiconductor device modeling, and data assimilation are often guest speakers at these technical training events.

Software Archives

Software developed at the NAS Facility is available for U.S. distribution only. Currently available software, plus information about downloading, can be found at NAS Software Request.

The list includes software for systems support, tools, monitoring systems, security, and scientific visualization.

Conferences

The NAS Facility hosts and participates in numerous conferences and meetings targeted for our users and those interested in supercomputing, information technologies, and aeronautics. This year, we are co-hosting the spring Cray User Group meeting, May 5-9. Information on upcoming events and reports on past events are available.
