Dallas-Fort Worth Scenery A word from the creator of DFWAREA.SC1 This is my latest efforts of creating scenery under the Microsoft Aircraft and Scenery Designer. You must have the A&SD installed to use this scenery. The sc1 file was created first by laying out the major traffic lanes in the Fort Worth and Dallas metroplex. DFW International airport was then created, ignoring the placement of Sublogics poor rendition. Other airports were added including Alliance, Meacham, Carswell AFB, and Spinks (Oak Grove) airports. You will notice that more has been done for the Fort Worth side of the metroplex, since I live and experience this city more than Dallas. Detail is based upon Mapsco charts, charts sent to me, a Dallas-Fort Worth area map, and personal notes taken from my office and automobile window. Incorrect detail exist because of my ignorance of the real thing. As the size of the file grew, I had to decide how much more detail I should include, since it seems such a file puts strain on memory and processing speed. Feel welcome to edit this file and add to the Dallas area. If you have comments concerning the file you would like to express to me, feel free to contact me. Do not upload your modified version of this file under the same name. I will be glad to take suggestions toward improving the scenery. Four ILS frequencies have been added: DFW -from North 109.05 DFW -from South 110.05 Alliance -from North 111.05 Alliance -from South 112.05 You must configure A&SD memory allocations to 46000 and showing any number of elements up to 40. I use 30. I use Sublogics SD-1.scn file along with this SC1 file to provide airports in the Dallas area. You do not need SD-1.scn for Fort Worth airports. I have used the APTFIX utility to remove the black runways of DFW and Meacham airports from the SD-1.scn file. This utility is available from FS 4.0 BBSs or from me upon request. This scenery was created using Flight Simulator 4.0b, Aircraft & Scenery Designer, on a 386SX 20mhz clone and a Standard 286 12mhz machine using VGA graphics. Enjoy the flight!
