BIG SINNERS AND LITTLE SINNERS Some people just naturally seem to be "better" or closer to God than others. When a person with lots of problems looks over at someone who really seems to "have it all together," the result can be jealousy, depression, and even despair. The Bible pops this illusion-bubble with the startling statement that ALL people have the same BASIC problem, and the SAME basic answer can apply to every person. The apostle Paul wrote, "There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:22-24 NIV) The most wanton and hardened criminal and the prim and chaste housewife have in common that by their own records they "fall short" before God and need to find their provision in the "redemption that came by Christ Jesus." There are myriads of differences between individuals, but in this most important way, "there is no difference." In the edition we quoted from above, the New International Version, the letter to the Romans is only 16 pages long. Read it for yourself. Because of the redemption that Jesus Christ purchased with His substitutionary death on the cross, and the victory He accomplished when He rose from the dead, He offers you, before the Court date, a free, gracious, and undeserved pardon from all your sins; if only you will put your trust in Him as Savior and Lord. Some people actually do commit grosser sins than others, but every descendant of Adam and Eve is a sinner who needs a Savior. This includes even you. Put your trust in Jesus. Don't wait: do it NOW.
