CUL:Some facts on Mary! by Dave Geuvreau Q: Was Mary always a Virgin? A: No! Matthew 13:55-56 - "Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?" Mary was a virgin until after the birth of Christ. After the birth of Christ she fulfilled her responsibilities as a wife to Joseph and they had many children of whom are mentioned in the verse quoted above. Q: Was Mary sinless? A: No! Luke 1:47 - And my spirit has rejoiced in God my SAVIOUR. Mary sang a song of praise to God in which she states in the verse above that God was her saviour. Only sinners need a saviour. Angels do not call God their Saviour as they have not sinned so they do not know God as their Saviour. Only man can know God in that light. These two verses show that Mary had sex with her husband Joseph and had children after the birth of Christ and that she as a sinner needed salvation just like the rest of us. The teaching of Mary being immaculate is a false teaching of the Roman Catholic Church and is only one in a long line of false teaching that emulates from this false representive of Christ.
