To set your display in 256 or in thousands of colors mode, use the appropriate utility: - for Windows 3.0 or 3.1, the utility supplied by the graphic card manufacturer or in the Program Manager, Windows installation. - for Windows 95, click with the right button on the background of the screen, then select «characteristics» in the scrolling menu which is displayed. You now access to the display setting parameters. For more information, consult your computer users' guide. • Memory To free a maximum of memory, quit all applications in use, resident programs, background tasks (network, fax modem...) before launching Orsay. If that isn't enough, try freeing the system of all unnecessary elements by editing, if needed, AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG. SYS, the Windows Start-up group, then restart. If you still need more memory, create or increase the virtual memory of your system which use the free space on your disk to stimulate RAM memory. In the Main Group, see Configuration Panel. Please note, this operation can significantly slow down the application. For more information, consult your computer user's guide. • Suggestions * If, when running, the program sometimes sends an error message, i.e; «General protection error...Close or Ignore», you must adapt QuickTime parameters to your graphic card. To do this, launch the control panel of QuickTime (in Windows 3.1 : Main Group, Configuration Panel, QuickTime; in Windows 95 : Menu Bar, Parameters, Configuration Panel, QuickTime). Click on the «More» button, then «Video». Select the «Driver» option from the list that is displayed. Click on «Apply» to put your modification into effect, then «OK». For more information on using your graphic card, consult your supplier. * Before launching the program, check that no other program is running. * Some sound or system conflict problems can be solved by removing the wallpaper from the office of Windows 3.10. - If wallpaper is installed in the Windows office, then, from Windows: - Click on «Main Group» - Click on «Configuration Panel» - Click on the «Office» icon - Select the «None» option in the «Wallpaper» column (use the scrollbar to go up the list) - clik on «OK» - Quit Windows and relaunch from the DOS (you only need to do this operation once). * Some display (as well as video mode) and sound problems can be solved by changing the video driver in «Windows Installation» found in the «Main group». * I you use Navigator on a Packard Bell and encounter problems while running Orsay, then, from Navigator: - Click on the appropriate icon to return to Windows - Click on the «Restore» button in the «Program Manager» window (the button in the top right corner, with one arrow pointing up and one pointing down) - The «Navigator» icon appears next to the «Program Manager» icon - Click once on the «Navigator» icon and select «Close» - Relaunch the application (this operation must be done each time «Navigator» is launched).
