Compaq Selective QuickRestore (US Only)

Introduction

QuickRestore is a Service and Support tool that allows you the ability to restore all or part of your preinstalled software if needed. Earlier versions of this tool have required you to reformat your entire hard drive. This caused demand for a non-data-destructive restoration tool. New United States Presario models will include a Selective QuickRestore in the box. Selective Quickrestore now gives you the option to perform either a Full, Typical, or Custom Restore of your preinstalled software.

Full Restore

A Full Restore will return your Presario computer to its original preinstalled software state. To do this, it is necessary to reformat the hard disk drive. In doing so, all data added to the machine after purchase will be lost.

Typical Restore

A Typical Restore reinstalls your computer's drivers that were originally preinstalled on your Presario computer. Typical Restore does not reformat your hard drive or destroy data. However, you are likely to lose any customized settings you have created. It is expected that this restoration option will be the most popular option for you.

Custom Restore

A Custom Restore allows you to select and install a single driver on your Presario computer. Custom Restore does not reformat your hard drive or destroy data. However, you may lose any customized settings you have created. It is expected that this restoration option will be heavily used by support technicians.
