The notebook computer�s JBL Pro Audio system is composed of a set of components carefully selected to maximize the performance and enjoyment of the system. The system is composed of high performance audio transducers mounted in bass reflex (ported) enclosures driven by a high power, low distortion amplifier and a 10 stage electronic equalizer (only on Presario 1600).

The core of the Premium audio system is its two long throw woofers with neodymium magnets mounted in bass reflex enclosures. Neodymium is a rare earth magnet material that provides significantly higher magnetic energy than conventional magnets. The benefit is significantly higher SPL (sound pressure levels) or the ability to play significantly louder than comparable speakers using traditional magnet materials.

High-end stereo engineers know the best system for delivering booming bass in limited space is to utilize a bass reflex or ported enclosure in their design (only on Presario 1600). The extended low frequency response of the Presario notebooks is due in large part to the bass reflex enclosure. The enclosure extends the low frequency response by acting as a second speaker operating at a frequency called the port resonance. It�s simple enough: long throw woofers with rare earth magnets mounted in a ported enclosure means lots of low bass and at high sound levels in a small package (only on Presario 1600).

These low distortion, high power amps generate performance specifications that today�s high performance CDs require for optimum listening pleasure.
