In addition, the Easy Access Internet Buttons make it easier for users to perform their most frequent Internet activities such as Email, Internet search, and secure online shopping.

Compaq offers users who live in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, 50 free hours of Internet access. New Presario owners receive a trial of the Internet and email when they choose Compaq Easy Internet Access.

Compaq understands the opportunities provided by Microsoft Internet Explorer 4, and provides users with a seamlessly integrated Internet experience. Users who choose Compaq�s implementation of Active Desktop are rewarded with quick access to helpful information on their Presario, as well as the ability to add desktop components that provide real-time customized information on anything from stocks, to news, to sports and entertainment.

All Compaq Presarios released in the U.S. come standard with 56K modems that provide users with the fastest possible Internet connection using standard phone lines. For those who think that 56K isn�t fast enough, all Presario desktops are cable modem ready and equipped with a 10 Mbps Ethernet port. Faster access times mean that users spend more time surfing the web than they spend waiting for the next page to load.

The Internet has become a primary reason for the purchase of a new PC. As such, Compaq has paid particular attention to easily getting users online, and to providing quick access to the Internet activities Presario owners do most.

Because Email is the number one activity people use on the Internet, Compaq created the Instant Email button that connects users to their email application with a click of the button.

A frequent complaint from users is that once they get on the Internet, they have trouble finding the information they need. For this, Compaq offers two solutions. First, users can quickly and easily search the Internet by pressing the Instant Search button (desktops only). Second, the Instant Internet button takes users to a personalized page where users can browse current news headlines, read up on their favorite sports teams, check out the local weather, and more.

An Internet connection is required to demonstrate the full benefit of Compaq�s Internet solution. With a live Internet connection it is possible to demonstrate the value of Active Desktop and Active Desktop components. The following instructions allow you to place the Compaq Weather Window on the desktop. The Weather Window gives you a scrolling weather report along with an animated depiction of your local weather conditions (U.S. only).
