Technology Description:
A unique blend of powerful and flexible hardware and creative software help Compaq bring the Digital Creativity Imaging Center to the Presario 5600 series. Customers can video conference or capture, create and output high quality video and still images from most digital camcorders and digital VCRs on the market to the Presario�s hard drive, monitor and even the TV.
The Digital Creativity Imaging Center brings to the Presario front panel the future of digital imaging with both the USB connections as well as the high speed and digital quality of IEEE-1394. The connections consist of two USB connections and an IEEE1394 Digital Imaging port. Simply plug in a digital imaging device such as camera, VCR, camcorder or other device using standard USB or an IEEE-1394 cable and instantly capture and edit images with the help of the intuitive software applications. These jacks support motion video (AVI) or still image (BMP) capture utilizing the several unique applications. These apps use standard Microsoft Video for Windows API (Application Programming Interface). This allows the Presario 5600 solution to be compatible with most third party applications that require a video capture card.
Two software applications provided by Compaq enhance creative self-expression of video and still photos. They are Color Desk, and iPhoto Express. These applications shall either be pre-loaded or come on CD with the Presario 5600 series. These software applications open the creative options possible. ColorDesk and iPhoto provide the ability to edit still images, play with color and depth, and save them as wallpaper or calendars.
Two
new applications have been added from Adaptec and Asymetrix for high
quality capture via the IEEE-1394 port and video editing. DV Deck is
a video content manager and capture application. DV Deck captures picture
stills and videos from any IEEE-1394 camcorder type device, plus manages
player control of the camcorder during playback. DVP, Digital Video
Producer, is a powerful video editing application, which features organizing
and combining multiple video, animation and audio clips to produce special
videos. Blend video clips with many types of transitions, or select
from multiple filters for dazzling special effects. Title generation
and motion control are also available, as well as bitmap and audio overlay
and control that will captivate your audience.

Best Demonstration to show off Technology:
Connect a IEEE-1394 digital camcorder or a USB digital still camera and show off the simplicity of PC image capture, manipulation, editing, playback and sharing of digital video using the pre-loaded software. The benefit derived is that it simplifies the perceived complexity of digital imaging. Customers will begin to see the possibilities of 1394 digital video camcorders, still cameras and USB video cameras.
Or connect a USB or standard game pad to show the benefits of easy connection and disconnection as well as the quick capability to connect a second game pad for exciting head to head gaming. The benefit of this demo is it shows off the gaming capabilities of the system - FIFA Soccer works best for this demonstration. It also exposes customers to the fact that they can connect two game pads and play games against each other; this will be especially appealing to kids and young adults. The parents will appreciate the easy connection and disconnection that eliminates clutter on the desktop.
