[About The Guide]
HINTS FOR MODEM SETUP
Most modems are shipped set up to force the Carrier Detect (CD)
and Data Terminal Ready (DTR) wires to a high (TRUE) condition.
This will confuse most communications packages into thinking
you are on-line at all times, and prevent most host modes from
working at all.
The solution is to change the modem setup to "follow the true state
of CD and DTR". The method differs from modem to modem; consult
the manual. For a Hayes 2400, the characters "&C1&D2" should
be included in the setup string.
