    Changing Values

    Simply press 1 - 4 to edit the  addresses  of COM 1 to COM 4 or press
    5 to 8 to edit the addresses of LPT 1 to LPT 4.

    Type the values in using hexadecimal or decimal.

    If some programs  are  giving  problems  with  the  ports,  it may be
    because DOS or  your  hardware  has  made  an  auto  detection error.
    Simply enter the correct values.    Also,  if some ports are missing,
    problems  occur.   For  example,    if  you  install  COM  4  without
    installing COM 3 (quite often  done  because  the mouse is usually on
    COM 1 and to change  all  the  software  for  a  mouse  on COM 2 is a
    nuisance)  then  you  must  create  a  "fake"  COM  3  (point it to a
    non-existent port or to COM 1) and then setup COM 4 correctly.

    If problems still  persist  it  may  be  that  you have an IRQ clash.
    For example, if you have a mouse  on  COM 1 you usually can't install
    your modem on COM 3 because COM  1  and  COM 3 usually share the same
    IRQ line.  Try checking  the  serial  card  manual or modem manual to
    see if you can use some other IRQ.
