================================ README.TXT ================================ Welcome to BURKS, the Brighton University Resource Kit for Students! This CD contains nearly 650 megabytes of useful information for students of Computer Science. It is organised around Netscape Navigator, and is in fact a prepackaged website with links to other sites around the world. It also features an automatic installer which will copy compressed archives from the CD to your hard disk, uncompress them for you and then give you the option of viewing any documentation files and executing any setup utilities. There is also a complete binary distribution of Linux with an automated utility for creating the necessary Linux installation disks. ============================================================================ INSTALLING: Windows 95: This CD uses the Windows 95 autorun feature, so that all you need to do is to insert it in your CD drive and it'll start automatically. Windows 3.x: Select "Run" from the Program Manager's "File" menu and type the command "X:\BURKS.EXE", where X is the drive letter of your CD drive. ============================================================================ The directories on the CD are as follows: BURKS -- contains the web pages and software which comprise the bulk of this CD LINUX -- contains some specifically Linux-related files (so that they're easy to find if you're running Linux and you can't use the automated installation tools available under Windows) SLAKWARE -- contains the binary files from the Slackware 3.2 distribution of Linux TOOLS -- contains Netscape Navigator and associated utility programs
