PC NumLock ---------- If the PC has NumLock on, the keypad will type numbers. If NumLock is off, the keypad cursor keys are used. NumLock is ignored when using application keypad mode keys. Windows For Workgroups 3.11: To maximize the efficiency of the com port driver used by WFW 3.11, the following lines can be added to the 386Ehn section of the system.ini file. Com4Buffer=4096 Com4FIFO=2 Com4TXFIFO=1 Com4RXTrigger=8 Com4Protocol=XOFF ComBoostTime=30 If your modem is not attached to port 4, replace "Com4" in the previous lines with the number of the port that your modem is attached to. ComBoostTime does not have a port number associated with it. Caller ID: Caller ID is a special service that can be ordered from most phone service companies. This service provides information about an incoming phone call. If QuickLink II Fax was supplied with caller ID capabilities, you will find the "Call Log" located under the "Connect" menu. The "Call Log" will display the caller ID information for the last 200 calls. It is important to note that caller ID information will not be placed into the "Call Log" unless QuickLink's terminal window is open or the FaxManager is receiving calls. If you would like to log the caller ID for all incoming calls but you don't want QuickLink to answer the phone, take the following steps: 1. Start the main QuickLink application and open the terminal window. QuickLink should now have access to your modem. You can verify this by typing "AT" in the terminal window and pressing Return. The modem should respond OK. 2. Select "Modem Setup" from the "Setup" menu and verify that "Caller ID Active" is checked. Set the Answer Mode to "Ignore Ring" which will prevent QuickLink from answering the incoming calls. Close the Modem Setup dialog. 4. Select "Call Log" from the "Connect" menu in order to view the caller ID information. The "Call Log" may remain active even while new calls are being received. Please note that the caller ID does not include the name of the caller in all cases. This will cause the "Name" field of the "Call Log" to be blank. The data displayed in the call log can be found in the file "caller.log". This is a tab delimited text file which may be printed or imported into a data base program. OCR: If QuickLink II Fax was supplied with OCR capabilities, a reference card will be included with your manual. If OCR capabilities were not included, you may upgrade to QuickLink Gold. QuickLink Gold provides faxing, data communications and OCR in one package. Other features include host mode, QuickFaxing and a customizable look and feel. QuickLink Gold may be ordered by calling our bulletin board system, American E-Mail at (714) 362-5822.
