NOVELL TECHNICAL BULLETIN TITLE: Novell NetWare v2.x and the IBM PS/2 Enhanced 80386 2 MB and 4 MB Memory Expansion Option Kits DOCUMENT ID#: TB.P.296 DATE: 11 September 1991 PRODUCT: NetWare PRODUCT REVISION: v2.x CROSS-REFERENCE: TB.P.263, TB.P.289 SYMPTOM: N/A ISSUE/PROBLEM: Technical Bulletin TB.P.263 describes a conflict between the IBM PS/2 Enhanced 80386 Memory Expansion Option and the cold boot loader of NetWare v2.x operating systems wherein the NetWare cold boot loader and the IBM Memory Expansion Option software are each placed on track 0 of the file server's bootable fixed disk when they are installed. According to TB.P.263, the only solution to this conflict was to load all software on a bootable floppy diskette and use that diskette to boot the file server. A NetWire patch (IBMMEM.ZIP) was subsequently released which corrected the conflict for NetWare v2.1x operating systems. Technical Bulletin TB.P.289 mentions this fact and further describes the above conflict in the context of NetWare v2.2 operating systems. SOLUTION: A patch now exists which corrects this conflict for both NetWare 2.1x and NetWare 2.2 operating systems. This patch is also called IBMMEM.ZIP and replaces the previously released IBMMEM.ZIP, which corrected the problem only for NetWare v2.1x. IBMMEM.ZIP is located on NetWire in downloadable library 8.
