Cymbidium (Cymbidium hybrids) Cymbidium orchid is grown for its stunning winter blossoms on grassy stems. Light Place in high light (full sun) in winter and medium to high light the rest of the year. Place outdoors in summer if possible. Needs three weeks of short days (12 hours of darkness) in fall to stimulate new bloom. Water Keep evenly moist, but not soggy. Never allow medium to dry out. Temperature Maintain average temperatures. Needs 55 degrees or below during the three weeks of short days prior to blooming. Comments Pot in special orchid mix. Fertilize with dilute solution every two weeks during active growth. Propagate by division, leaving parent plant with four stems.
