Chinese Evergreen Also called painted drop-tongue, or spotted evergreen (Aglaonema species) Chinese evergreen is one of the most durable foliage plants. Leaf color and size vary by variety. Light Place in medium light of east or west. Tolerates low light, but variegated forms lose coloration under such conditions. Water Keep soil moist at all times. Water a little less in fall and winter. Mist as frequently as possible. Keep humidity high by placing on a tray filled with moist pebbles. Temperature Maintain temperatures in the low 80s during the day and no less than the low 60s at night. Comments Grow in soil or water. Because plant likes being pot-bound, pot up only when roots fill entire pot. Feed monthly with a weak solution. Clean foliage monthly with tepid water. Propagate by air layering, division, stem cuttings (root in sand), or tip cuttings (will root in water).
