Scab Causes brown, corky patches to appear on leaves, then on the fruit of apple and pear trees. The disease is especially prevalent in damp areas or seasons. Rake leaves and provide good sanitation to keep the disease from overwintering. Prune for good air circulation. Spray as needed--as often as every three days in wet springs--with captan, lime sulfur, or benomyl. Soak the soil under the tree with spray.
