Lobelia (Lobelia erinus) Quarter- to half-inch-wide flowers, on small plants rarely over 6 inches tall. Trailing varieties vine up to 2 feet. Blue, white, and pink. Varieties: Bright Eyes, Sapphire. Soil and Light Sun, but need some shade in hot areas. Not heat resistant. Moist, but well-drained soil. Planting Sow seed indoors 6 to 8 weeks early, or buy transplants. Comments Use plants for edgings, borders, ground covers; trailing varieties in hanging baskets and pots. Cut back after first flush of bloom for new blossoms.
