David Wilcox & Lisa Cerbone chat transcript
Courtesy of
Dennis Lovelady

The following chat took place Tuesday, May 20 with
singers/songwriters Lisa Cerbone & David Wilcox.

07:19:52 Merzi: A comment - I first heard your music four years ago and my thought was that you managed to pluck the thoughts and feelings out of my own head. Since then I remain mystified that you manage to put a voice to what people think and feel. I love your music for that alone.
07:20:08 Dennis lovelady: Thanks for the guitar advice, David. Lisa, maybe I can make the Attic show on Friday night. (Nice WWW page.)
07:20:29 David Wilcox: After I finish a concert that went really well I hope that there are recordings of it somewhere in the crowd but after I finish a show that could've been better I hope they don't play it for too many people.
07:20:42 Sunday: Dennis: Lisa's tour listings can be found at http://www.hidwater.com/cerbone
07:21:46 Tony: hey lisa, i heard you grew up in new jersey.
07:22:06 Annette: David, I sure you did have alot of choices. I'm always suprised at how many new songs you sing in concert. Always playing something new. Amazing.
07:22:27 Lisa Cerbone: Yup, born and bred in New Joisey, exit 8.
07:22:39 Allison: I've seen you play twice, and both times your incredible talent for lyrics and guitar have given me goosebumps. I love "Johnny's Camero."
07:23:01 EmZol: Hi David..it's me, Emily...I'm looking forward to seeing you in Orlando this weekend.
07:23:01 Tony: do you still live in nj lisa?
07:23:03 Dennis lovelady: If ever I grow up, maybe I'll choose Jersey to do it in.
07:23:46 David Wilcox: Emily, Emily, I miss you terribly! Be sure to come backstage and say 'hi.'
07:23:47 Mike: I ask questions about Edwin McCain because your music and his are very similar - you both tell some wonderful stories that touch so many people.
07:24:01 Lisa Cerbone: Jersey is a good place to do just about anything in! Ny fanily still lives there, and I find myself up there very often.
07:24:50 Annette: Emily..keeper of the web site that we all love.
07:24:55 EmZol: Of course, I will....I miss you too...and I'm bringing many friends to enjoy the evening! Are you going to have any time to play in the Magic Kingdom?
07:25:09 Lisa Cerbone: Where are you from, Dennis.
07:25:26 Sunday: David: I remember you singing a song about riding a rollar coaster..I don't think it's the song Top of the Rollar Coaster because I remember you singing a bit more about the experience of "being on the rollar coaster. Or am I making a mistake?
07:25:54 Dennis lovelady: I'm living in Greenville, SC for past 9 years. but "from" Indiana/Ohio
07:26:25 EmZol: Thank you, Annette...
07:26:46 David Wilcox: Emily: I'm travelling with the band on the tour bus and all so I'm curious if there's room for 6 of us in the Magic Kingdom!
07:27:18 EmZol: Of course there is!!!!
07:27:22 Hillary: Mike, the southeastern sales rep for Koch said that David's tour bus was used by Ozzie Osborne.
07:27:41 Sunday: Hi Hillary...didn't see you there.
07:27:48 Tony: Lisa, how do you like to write songs... morning, evening, living room, kitchen?
07:28:04 Jcf: Lisa, Hello. I just wanted to say that I am a huge fan of you and your music and I just wanted to thank you .
07:28:29 Brian: David, I've heard your are both a husband and father. Having just become a father myself I must ask: Isn't it very hard for you and your family when you travel so much?
07:28:34 Merzi: David, when will we see you on The Tonight Show again??????
07:29:09 David Wilcox: Hillary is kind enough to be typing for me and still it's frustrating to have to talk this slowly to people. Not that she types slow but just that conversation is so disjointed.
07:29:29 Lisa Cerbone: I like to write mostly in the mornings. JcF, thank you for the compliment. I'm glad that it has affected you.
07:29:32 Sunday: Hillary, type faster
07:29:32 Sunday: Hillary, type faster
07:30:52 Tony: Lisa, I like your song "Stalls When Its Not Warm"... is it about someone you know?
07:31:35 AlanRowoth: Sorry I'm late. Will someone post a transcript later?
07:31:46 David Wilcox: As for family life and travel it used to be that music had a strong pull but when I finally made it home there wasn't much there to ground me, not much there to balance the travel. Now, however, the two are a great balance for each other. I love being home and when it's time to head out to play music I enter into that other world, that other part of my personality and I enjoy both.
07:31:56 Lisa Cerbone: Yes, it is. It is about my father. It is probably my personal favorite on the album.
07:32:17 Justin: David, I'm getting married in July thanks to the Block Dog and Co. (well, love had something to do with it, too.)
07:32:21 Hillary: Alan: there's no one keeping a transcript, though I wish there were!
07:32:52 Annette: David, Does Nancy join you and the band on stage this tour?
07:32:52 EmZol: I'm copying the whole thing to put on the web page, but if anybody could do the same for a backup, that'd be great.
07:33:16 David Wilcox: Alan: Haven't seen you since the Newport Festival. How you been?
07:33:17 Tony: Lisa, what have you been listening to lately?
07:33:45 Dennis lovelady: I'm doing the copy/paste thing, so I will be happy to send it to requesters. Request to Dennis@Lovelady.com.
07:33:52 Keith Abbott: I would keep a transcript but netscape keeps crashing on me. Ugh.
07:34:12 Allison: David, how is it you keep writing such amazing songs with such incredible meaning? Do all of your songs have a correlation with your life?
07:34:41 Merzi: David, have you heard the story about the K-mart versus Walmart couple and their dilemma and how your music settled their lives? So funny!!
07:34:49 AlanRowoth: Great Dave! I've missed you. Can't wait for Falcon Ridge!
07:34:49 David Wilcox: Nancy is coming to occasional cities here and there but not travelling the whole itinerary.
07:35:16 David Wilcox: Merzi: No.
07:35:23 Merzi: I wondered if Tom relayed it to you. It was so cute.
07:35:29 Lisa Cerbone: Spearhead, Lisa Germano, and Maia Sharp.
07:35:53 AlanRowoth: Packing for Kerrville tonight. You should be there.
07:36:11 Jcf: Lisa, what do you think about when you're playing live.
07:36:14 Chris Pa: David, I love the new CD, but like may of your fans I am disappointed that there are some songs that aren't on it. Do you ever feel that an album is too limiting? Have you ever considered writing of book of short stories?
07:36:47 David Wilcox: Allison: Sometimes songs are a combination of stories. But they all relate to my life whether they're my experiences or of close friends.
07:37:37 David Wilcox: Chris: I hope that some of the songs that got recorded for this record will make it on another.
07:38:17 A Newby: David, how are the live shows working out with you, Newt, and Ric all on stage? 07:38:20 Keith Abbott: Hey Lisa I have an afterthought. for you...
07:38:21 David Wilcox: It's not that they were worse it's just that they didn't fit with the theme. I thought about including more songs on the disk but I think songs can get lost in the middle of a disk that's too long.
07:38:34 AlanRowoth: David: I might do an Alzheimers Compilation CD. Got a song for it?
07:38:39 Allison: Are you planning ever to go back to the Kerrville Folk Festival, David?
07:39:01 Lisa Cerbone: When I'm playing live what do I think about. Hmmm. That's a good question. I usually think about the songs themselves, who they're about, and sometimes I find that the song meanings change for me the more I play them live. I'd also have to say that I agree with David's idescription of where songs come from. Sometimes they come from a lot of things all at once.
07:39:23 David Wilcox: As for the short stories I love the idea of including more story telling in the performance but the idea of just writing a story seems too disconnected and involves so much trust that someone will eventually hear it it's hard for me to sustain that belief.
07:39:31 Merzi: Ah, a book of stories. But told to music is so much more fascinating. Oh how I love your stories. That's why I enjoyed the K-mart story some list member sent. It made me giggle all day with it's touching sentiments.
07:39:47 David Wilcox: Alan: Gee there was one but I forget.
07:40:24 David Wilcox: Allison: I would love to go back to the Kerrville Festival. I don't know why my booking agent keeps forgetting about it.
07:40:24 EmZol: Stop teasing us, Merzi...tell us the story!
07:40:43 Lisa Cerbone: Keith, what is your afterthought?
07:40:45 Mike: David, what are you listening to lately?
07:40:45 Tony: Lisa, when I've seen you play, you have such a joyous expression on your face. You must really love to sing!
07:40:48 Annette: The KMart story on the newsgroup list was great. DAVID: do you every read the internet list? We know Tom does.
07:40:50 EmZol: Stop teasing us, Merzi...tell us the story!
07:41:00 Keith Abbott: Lisa...is it remotely possible..(however remote it may be) that the "aquarium" in Blue Frog could have been inspired by the Baltimore Aquarium? (I have a feeling I know what you're going to say)
07:41:04 AlanRowoth: Unrecorded songs get lost too. Like "Down Inside Myself"???
07:41:15 David Wilcox: Merzi: Is this a story that I supposedly told?
07:41:22 Allison: That was the first time I saw you, I've loved your music ever since then.
07:41:32 Merzi: Stories are great. They engage our imagination and remind us all of some piece of ourselves. And with the music, they soothe our souls.
07:41:37 Keith Abbott: I guess it's been bugging me for awhile...I just never asked before. :)
07:41:48 David Wilcox: Alan: Didn't I put "Down Inside Myself" on the live record?
07:41:48 Tony: Keith, type faster! : )
07:42:04 Chris Pa: David: How many songs can you play with the band?
07:42:19 Keith Abbott: I am typing fast Tony...it's this modem! :)
07:42:23 Lisa Cerbone: Yes, it's a favorite place of mine. I went there once with a good friend who is this great individual. I thought the blue frog represented her perfectly.
07:42:30 Allison: Does the paintng in "Leave It Like It Is" really exist?
07:42:39 David Wilcox: Chris: We've rehearsed about 25 songs so far.
07:42:44 Merzi: No David .. it's a story that was distributed on the DW members list. Ask tom to send you a copy. It's two brief paragraphs and very, very cute.
07:42:52 A Newby: David: Will you please play The Mad Scientist song in Atlanta tomorrow night? PLEASE?!?!
07:43:02 Keith Abbott: You mean I was right?????
07:43:18 AlanRowoth: Duh! I've been in "Nightshift" mode lately...
07:43:40 Hillary: Merzi: If it's only 2 paragraphs you can tell us...
07:43:56 Keith Abbott: You mean I was right?????
07:44:13 Lisa Cerbone: Looks like you would be right!
07:44:14 AlanRowoth: Michael has me stocked with live tapes, but I want everyone to hear those songs.
07:44:18 Chris Pa: David: I was very sorry to hear about your guitar, I hope the new one has as many songs.
07:44:32 Keith Abbott: oops...my reload shot that 2nd one off :)
07:44:44 Lisa Cerbone: Alan, I know your name from somewhere. Where do I know your name?
07:45:05 Tony: It just occurred to me, but a friend of mine lives on a sailboat and last time I was on his boat he had both David and Lisa's CDs in his changer. Coincedence???
07:45:27 Joan: David.... when are you coming back to Minneapolis?
07:45:33 Keith Abbott: Lisa: it's a miracle. I'm usually so far off it's ridiculous. Maybe I'm starting to get a bit more metaphorical. Is that a word?
07:46:16 AlanRowoth: David: That guy's guitar in Troy sounded great! (I couldn't stay after...)
07:46:30 Chris Pa: David: I understood that the working title for "Glory" was "The Age of Christ". Is this true? If so, why the change?
07:46:36 David Wilcox: Joan: I would love to play in Minneapolis with the band and I hope it can happen soon. I'm doing this tour of the South going out to California and back and I don't think we have any northern dates scheduled yet. But I'll keep you posted.
07:46:44 Stuartk: Greetings all, Hi David ....
07:46:46 Lisa Cerbone: Metaphorical - I'd say it's a word in my book. Tony, what can I say your friend has good taste:)
07:47:15 Joan: Is there a specific spot on the net that lists your upcoming dates?
07:47:16 Keith Abbott: David: who does your booking by chance?
07:47:18 David Wilcox: Alan: I bought that guitar ... it does sound great.
07:47:27 Keith Abbott: 2 for 2! :)
07:47:37 David Wilcox: Chris: Where did you hear about that working title. I don't remember that. 07:48:10 LA DW fan: Greetings from the West! Hi Mr. Wilcox!
07:48:14 AlanRowoth: good call. Bob Bennett introduced me to the Luthier. His CD is due soon.
07:48:33 Chris Pa: I guess it was just "mail list" speculation
07:48:47 David Wilcox: Joan: There is a listing I'm sure Emily could tell you where and there's also the gig line -- 704-298-4322.
07:48:48 A Newby: David: are you playing electric at all with the band?
07:49:14 Laura: David,You will be in Minneapolis on Aug 9th at the zoo, with your band.tickets thru ticketmaster.
07:49:14 Tony: How often is your web site updated Lisa?
07:49:15 Merzi: David, I met you briefly outside the guitar shop in Houston inbetween your two shows.... my friend and I were musing inbetween shows about how nice it would be to meet you and THEN there you were!!! Right in front of us. Of course, we were befuddled and bewildered to have our fantasy come true. We talked about that all night.
07:49:37 AlanRowoth: Thousands of concert dates online at http://concerts.calendar.com/ Write it down.
07:49:37 Jcf: I heard a beautiful song of yours just today called "Late Afternoon". It was really magical.
07:49:48 Lisa Cerbone: Joan, my dates can be found on musi-cal or my website: www.hidwater.com/cerbone
07:49:57 EmZol: The website has officially changed to www.davidwilcox.com
07:50:00 Joan: Thanks David
07:50:31 Lisa Cerbone: JcF, where did you hear that one? That's an old one!
07:50:42 Keith Abbott: Why is it that the artist is the last to know? :)
07:50:45 Chris Pa: David: I am sure you love playing with a band for a change. On the nights you are solo, will you try to do something different?
07:51:36 Joan: David, it must be hard keeping up with your schedule :-)
07:51:39 Jcf: A friend of mine had a tape...
07:52:07 Allison: Is the song "The Kid" about you, David? Out of the MANY songs of yours I've heard, that one has remained my favorite.
07:52:09 Stuartk: David, looking forward to your Louisville show on July 11th. Will you be bringing the band to this show?
07:52:20 Lisa Cerbone: David and Hillary will be right back. Their computer died.
07:52:32 Tony: Lisa, I have Close Your Eyes and Mercy... what other tapes or CDs are out there? 07:52:33 Annette: David I loved East Asheville Hardware. It was great to hear all those concert song finally recorded!!!
07:52:54 Keith Abbott: Sure not you...and surely not me..Manic Depressives...And baby, baby, baby...:)
07:53:09 Joan: Laura, thanks for letting me know about this chat!
07:53:14 Rahul: Hi, all, I missed the first half of all this. Does anyone know how to get a transcript of all that's past?
07:53:18 David Wilcox: (we're back...)
07:53:46 Justin: David, what does it mean to "swim" a kiss?
07:54:09 A Newby: David: are you playing electric guitar with the band?
07:54:12 LA DW fan: David, any idea when you'll be in LA with your own show?
07:54:22 EmZol: I will post it to the website later tonight...
07:54:22 Laura: David, I saw you in Wheaton Illinois in April. Gave you a block dog for Nathan. Stumbled over all my words. Yes you really will be in MN on aug 9th
07:54:32 Stuartk: Justin - Good Question
07:54:49 David Wilcox: Allison: The song "The Kid" is a Buddy Mondlock song.
07:55:13 David Wilcox: Justin: That's from "Wild Berry Pie" right?
07:55:14 AlanRowoth: Buddy Mondlock wrote "The Kid". Peter, Paul, and Mary also cut it. Buddy is another fantastic songwriter. His songs have been cut by Garth Brooks Janis Ian, and others.
07:55:31 David Wilcox: No! It's from "Big Mistake" isn't it?
07:55:33 Lisa Cerbone: There is one CD entitled "Lisa Cerbone" that is still floating around Basically it is the same as "Close Your Eyes"; it just sounds more independent and less-commercial. The version of "tears" on that album is my all-time fave. So, JcF, I'm curious to know what you thought of "Late Afternoon"?
07:55:56 Justin: Right, Big Mistake.
07:55:57 Merzi: YEAH!! What's swim a kiss ... nevermind, I think I know
07:56:25 Chris Pa: swim kiss = "Big Mistake" (great song)
07:56:40 Keith Abbott: "Tears"...now that's the song that made me go buy the cd from Lisa (heard it on IUMA)
07:57:06 Tony: Lisa, will you be playing with Kevin Johnson again?
07:57:12 Rahul: I just tried sending a message, and my nestcape crashed, so. . . I'll say it again: Hi all, I missed the first half and I was wondering if there is a way to get a transcript for all that's passed.
07:57:42 David Wilcox: Newby: I'm playing 4 different guitars for different songs and two of them are electric guitars. One is a Jerry Jones baritone guitar.
07:57:42 EmZol: I will post it to the new website, www.davidwilcox.com later tonight.
07:57:43 Jcf: I loved it. I guess the mood was just captured really well. It made me cry.
07:58:01 Chris Pa: David: Big Mistake also makes reference to a "turning point"
07:58:19 Stuartk: David, how is fatherhood treating you?
07:58:24 Emily: David, where did you get your inspiration for "Johnny's Camero?"
07:58:25 Keith Abbott: What I'd like to hear are some unreleased songs put on cd! ;) and maybe and video incorporated into a CD-Rom disc.
07:58:29 Lisa Cerbone: I'm particularly proud of that one because I played lead electric guitar and produced the first version. That song helped me go in the direction that I'm going in now with "Passing This Train" and "Stalls..."
07:58:54 Lisa Cerbone: I'm glad you liked it, but sad that it made you cry.
07:58:55 A Newby: Dave: You rock my world! I can't wait for tomorrow night's show!!! How about The Mad Scientist?
07:59:20 David Wilcox: Emily: the story in Johnny's Camero" is all a true story told to me by Laura Powers a woman I worked with at the children's museum in Boston. I added the Camero part but the Africa part is all her story.
08:00:00 Keith Abbott: "Your father was just another drumml..and he never paid the rent when it was due...I caught him sleeping around with some slut." Now THOSE are lyrics! :)
08:00:15 Keith Abbott: oops drumml=drunk
08:00:33 Emily: It's a beautiful song.
08:00:33 Merzi: Yes ... please do a video!!! We're all desperately trying to get our PBS stations to run your program. PLEASE???!!!
08:00:34 Lisa Cerbone: Well, today we shot the first video for the album for the song "Watching You Drown" It was a lot of fun. so, who knows maybe a CD-ROM isn't too far off into the future -- hint, hint, Helen, my Ichiban companion!
08:01:04 Chris Pa: David: Why haven't you recorded a song about fatherhood? Am I missing one?
08:01:15 Lisa Cerbone: Keith, were you drunk when you typed that?
08:01:19 Emily: It's a beautiful song.
08:01:22 Keith Abbott: yeah yeah..hint hint. :)
08:01:41 Lisa Cerbone: Only kidding!
08:01:44 David Wilcox: Newby: I'm trying to discipline myself to play songs from this record and not always be two records ahead in what I'm performing.
08:02:00 A Newby: David: will there be an Asheville release party for Turning Point? What happened to the song you did on World Cafe, you said you wrote it for Nathan...I Wish For You
08:02:10 AlanRowoth: Dave: I gotta run, but I'll grab the transcript. Love to N&N. See you soon!
08:02:48 David Wilcox: Chris: I think fatherhood has influenced most of the songs on this new album because I'm looking at what makes for a good life.
08:02:50 Tony: Lisa, in your Song My Little Sister and Me, you make references to the pacific northwest... have you spent any time up there?
08:02:55 Stuartk: David, ever climb Mt. Mitchell?
08:03:08 EmZol: David, I'm always turning people on to your music and I usually end up giving them a compilation concert of all my favorite songs of yours and somehow trying to paraphrase your openings... What music would you like people to hear if they were listening to
08:03:11 Laura: So, Johnny in Johnny Camero is different than the Johnny in Saturday theyll all be back again?
08:03:25 EmZol: you for the first time?
08:04:13 Chris Pa: Thank you David, I'll look for the meaning
08:04:14 Lisa Cerbone: Yes, as a matter of fact, I was up there last week. We did some opening dates with Ben Harper.
08:04:47 David Wilcox: I've never understood album release parties. The party that I had was when I got the mixes back and we listened to them in my living room for the first time in sequence.
08:05:15 Lisa Cerbone: Me too, David.
08:05:31 Justin: Well, I've got to go now. Someone let me know if we find out how to swim a kiss.
08:05:38 Keith Abbott: I love this quote" what's the scene out in Baltimore and Washington DC..what's it like out there?" Lisa - "umm...well Baltimore is kinda dead *laugh*...umm it is a little warmer..." ..."we were in Cleveland and we tried to tell them we were from France but they wouldn't believe us" interviewer..."You needed pointed heads." *laugh*
08:05:44 David Wilcox: Emily: The songs on this new record are it, for me, in terms of getting to the heart of what I want to say.
08:06:14 Chris Pa: David: What will you be doing in your in store appearences?
08:06:32 Lisa Cerbone: I don't remember that!
08:06:52 David Wilcox: Stuartk: I've only climbed it on foot once, but I've bicycled up to it many times.
08:06:57 Laura: going to be in Black Mountain first week of June! Family vacation!
08:07:03 Keith Abbott: I got the tape right here Lisa :) WYSO interview.
08:07:34 Merzi: David -- I haven't heard the new album. I'm worried the band may take away from what you have to say. Asuage my fears.
08:07:48 David Wilcox: Chris: I usually play a few songs and sign stuff and say 'hi.'
08:08:02 Tony: Lisa, what direction do you see your songwriting going in? more acoustic, more rocklike, more experimental?
08:08:09 Keith Abbott: You sent it to me in 1995 believe it or not :)
08:08:24 Lisa Cerbone: Oh yeah, I remember that now. We had played in Cleveland right after Baltimore stole their football team, so needless to say, people in Cleveland didn't like us much at first.
08:08:42 Chris Pa: Merzi: I am listening to it now, there is nothing here to fear 08:09:16 Repenthouse: Um... hello?
08:09:22 Lisa Cerbone: Sometimes I think I'd like to do an all acoustic album; other times I think I'd like to stick to the ambient folk-rock sound. 08:09:25 Joan: I am bummed, I meant to get out today and buy Davids new CD
08:09:31 A Newby: David: What are you and the band listening to on the road?
08:09:45 David Wilcox: Merzi: I had the same fear years ago and it took a long time to meet the right musicians who could understand what I was trying to say and add to it and not distract from it. this record for me is finally finding the right players.
08:10:09 Tom S: David: Do you ever feel like your manager shows up in strange places to remind you to tell audiences about your new record?
08:10:20 Repenthouse: oh there are famous people here
08:10:32 Rahul: ha! ha! ha!
08:10:43 Tony: Lisa, I remember you played a really cool song about a guy who owns a record store in a rough part of town... What's the name of that song and will you play it again? I'll promise to be there!!!
08:10:52 Keith Abbott: Yeah the exact quote was "Oh yeah you're guys that stole the Cleveland Browns. okay okay. People are very disgruntled about that here. Yeah we were in Cleveland...and we tried to tell them we were from France but they wouldn't believe us. "
08:11:46 Laura: This is frustrating, I can't type one sentence without being interrupted by the rotating "Y'all" sign. Am I doing something wrong?
08:11:56 Repenthouse: h2 um does this stuff work here?
08:12:14 David Wilcox: Hi Tom!
08:12:17 Jcf: lol, yeah I hear you Laura
08:12:20 Lisa Cerbone: That song is called "Pigtown", and it is about an actual man who lives in the Pigtown section of Baltimore. His record store is kind of the cornerstone of the entire neighborhood.
08:12:21 Repenthouse: what a rip-off
08:12:21 Stuartk: Oh yeah, David - I picked up Turning Point this morning. It definitely is a turning point !!! I'm impressed.
08:12:38 Acafe: Greetings David, Tom and Lisa. Rob Reinhart
08:12:57 Keith Abbott: "Pigtown"? where have I been....I dont recall that song..Yeah Lisa you need to play that song! :)
08:13:16 Repenthouse: oh yea hi famous people
08:13:17 Lisa Cerbone: Hello, Acafe. Welcome to the chat.
08:13:33 Carrie: David, I'm listening to "Your Kindness" right now. I'm so glad you recorded it, I love this song!ole that song.
08:13:34 Merzi: I CAN'T wait to hear it. You'll play with them in Houston. Looking forward to it. What's the largest difference? What makes it better for you to communicate with them?
08:14:04 Elbeal: David, did you find the band or did the band find you? Somewhere I saw that most of them had been with other bands.
08:14:11 Repenthouse: so.......
08:14:22 Keith Abbott: Hey Tony have you heard her song "Something You Taught Me"?
08:14:52 Lisa Cerbone: "Pigtown" is not recorded yet. I hope to do it for an upcoming album. Until then, I will continue playing it live although I haven't played it for a while.
08:14:56 David Wilcox: We all plugged our guitars in the same amp in the front lounge of the bus and go over new songs. Newton Carter has a great song about the Super 8 Motel. A real country classic with an advisory sticker for language.
08:15:00 Repenthouse: anyone like silverchair or Local H?
08:15:07 Merzi: Oh Tom!! I'm so glad you're here!! Good to hear you live (sort of).

08:16:27 Stuartk: David, I've got two boys 2 & 4 who have become fans of yours by osmosis. Do many people bring their yung'uns to your outdoor shows?
08:16:27 Tony: Lisa, another song I heard you play a long time ago was about a guy dreaming about being in a casino dancing with beautiful women... I liked that one too. I wish I had a CD with all your story songs!
08:16:29 Repenthouse: Yea I met them too! did you meet them at the music midtown?
08:16:41 Emily: David, I hear you're not doing the Kerrville Folk Festival...why not?
08:16:53 LA DW fan: David, I can't stay long so I'll make this short. Thank you for your inspiration. You helped many through hard times and made the good times better. (even got me to but a motorcycle!) THANKS!

08:18:17 David Wilcox: Elbeal: I met Rich Hordinsky in Dayton. He was opening a show I was playing and we hit it off right away mostly because of the Volkswagen in his promo picture. Through Rich I met Newton Carter and through Newt I met David Labriere. The drummer, Tony Franklin, is from Kentucky near Cincinatti.
08:18:18 Lisa Cerbone: That song is called "Atlantic City". It's a long song that has chapters to it almost.

08:29:29 Y all: If anyone has kept a transcript of this chat please e-mail it to me!!!
08:29:34 Dennis lovelady: Hi, EmZol.... got ya covered with the 'script.
08:29:51 Lisa Cerbone: JcF -- "Places of My Dreams" is told from an older man's point of view. It's about him looking through old things and remembering what they signified in his navy days.
08:31:28 Lisa Cerbone: Tony -- "Calm as Houses" is about a person who falls in love for real without any of the ideals we're bombarded with each day. A lot of the album "Mercy" is about that theme.
08:31:40 Keith Abbott: I've had an experience like Places of My Dreams recently, I had a dream last night of going back to England for a few weeks. It was so beautiful and exciting the first time. The images in my dreams last night were incredible...so colorful.
08:31:44 EmZol: Thanks...I'll e-mail you where I lost it!
