Atlanta photographer Steve Williams likes to play with puzzles. But we're talking puzzles made of emulsion mixed with bits and pieces of other stuff. Through experimentation Williams created the photos you'll see as you stroll through the gallery exhibit.
"Most of my work has consisted of the exploration of places that I have visited or my interaction with friends, which includes portraits," Williams says of his work. Before creating his photo collages he spent time as a portrait photographer and includes the photos you see on this page.
"My work has expressed itself in many styles. I try to look at each project individually and treat it as its own entity," Williams says. He has covered documentary, street photography, 3-D anaglyphs, portraits and conceptual-digital photography.
"The images were constructed with the use of scissors and scotch tape while using the computer to add color and small images from my own stock photography. I also use the computer to output my images for viewing," Williams explains regarding the photos in this exhibit. "The subject matter has been mostly of the destruction of the Earth with some political and social overtones. This is my way of crying out to the world. I find art as a way to express any emotion, sometimes the only way, that the artist holds fast and make statements that reflect their beliefs in a way that others can comprehend."
Currently, Williams pursues his interests with commercial and portrait photography in Atlanta and welcomes comments on his works. You can contact him and let him know what you think either by calling 1-800-923-6436 or e-mail snw@mindspring.com.
