Winning the fight against acne... Acne can occur for a number of different reasons. Emotional worries, environmental pollutants, hormonal changes, and genetic factors all play a role. When you do get a blemish, don't touch it! Opening the blemish could cause scarring. Your hands are a magnet for bacteria, which can cause infections and even more blemishes. There are many products out on the market to combat acne, but you can choose a healthy approach, too. Eating certain foods can actually help control acne. Foods rich in vitamins A and E, beta-carotene, zinc, chromium, and selenium, (like spinach, sweet potatoes, apples, leafy greens, apricots, and carrots) are great acne fighters. Apples, pears, cherries, and any other fruits in the berry family contain glycol and alpha hydrocyl acids, both important acne fighting nutrients. It is equally important to avoid foods high in iodine, salt, or fat content. Healthy eating canÆt guarantee that your acne will go away, but it will be an important step toward achieving a clearer complexion. |
