Taking control of your eating habits...
People have a very complex relationship with food. Sure, we eat when we are hungry, but we also eat to satisfy a craving or to comfort us when we are worried, stressed, or depressed. The desire for food can be biologically, psychologically, or even socially driven. We are constantly exposed to conflicting images that can create feelings of tension, frustration, or guilt. Television commercials that tempt us with images of delicious treats are often followed by fashion or beauty spots that highlight sleek figures. While many foods now offer a ôlightö version, we can feel guilty when we choose the original product. Before you feel overwhelmed though, ready to put a padlock on your refrigerator, turn the TV off, and never go grocery shopping again, relax. Just eat in moderation. If you feel that you are going to "over do" it, just get up from the table and walk away! |
