PUBERTY

Boys

In boys, puberty can start anywhere from 11 to 15. This is what happens:

ON THE OUTSIDE

  • His whole body grows.
  • Hair starts to grow under his arms, on his chest, face and at base of his penis. At around age 17 only half of all men need to shave.
  • His voice may start to deepen and it may squeak while it changes.
  • Pimples may appear.
  • His genitals (sexual organs) develop.
  • His penis grows.
  • He may start to have wet dreams.

ON THE INSIDE

  • His testicles grow and start to produce sperm.

As boys go through puberty, they get taller, their shoulders get wider, their bodies become more muscular, their genital organs develop, and they begin to grow hair on the public area, underarms, faces, chests, arms and legs. Home Return to Top
