Ring of Fire: Art Cars at Burning Man

Burning Man is an annual performance art event and ritual. Each year a creative community comes together in the middle of the single largest flat expanse of land in North America to camp for four days and then set fire to a four-story tall effigy.

Art car artists from all over the United States converge on the Burning Man Black Rock Festival. In a landscape where EVERYTHING is out of the ordinary, art cars help to paint the picture.

Art Cars in Cyberspace has chronicled the exploits of art cars at Burning Man since 1994. We've got some photos to share, and you can read about some of our special events like Fireball and a ceremony/sculpture we call "Set the World on Fire."

There are now hundreds of web sites that celebrate the Burning Man experience. These sites generally have links to lots of other Burning Man sites.

More recently, some of the B.Man sites have begun to connect with each other using a new kind of link called a "ring." You can travel "around" the ring and visit all of the sites consecutively, or you can just jump to a random Ring of Fire site!

The Ring of Fire is tended by the very fervid Annabelle. If you have a web site with Burning Man stories or photos, you can join the Ring of Fire at http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/3200/.

Art Cars in Cyberspace is jazzed to be part of the Ring of Fire and encourages all other Burning Man web sites to join! We also want to thank Annabelle and her friends for igniting the ring and keeping it burning!
