Mingus, Whitley, The Man formerly known as Prince i.e. o)-> The breadth of the U.D. music section is absolutely amazing, especially considering that many of us work for food. (this is not actually true, but an official joke as approved by the American Amateur Joke Association.)

Oh how far we have come; back in 1969 when Urban Desires first started we didn't think that our little ezine, or whatever it is called now, would have the effect on modern society that it has. We have been at the forefront of the leading artistic and literary trends that have defined who we are and what we want as Americans, nay human beings. From my own groundbreaking interview with John and Yoko to the serialized release of J.D. Salinger's new novel in our upcoming issue, Urban Desires has always challenged the mainstream; never bowing to critics unless it was going to cost us a lot of money. I for one would like to say how proud I am at being associated in some small way, of being able to make my contribution, to give back some of the great good fortune that the big guy upstairs has passed my way. Sure I've got to mingle with the rock n roll giants and sure I've done my share of high quality drugs (hey it was the 60's) but none of that compares to being able to help the kids. That's what it's really about, isn't it? I know I've learned a lot and I hope that somewhere along the way you have learned with me.

You know I get a little misty when I think about our humble beginnings. I'm getting to affected by the good feelings around this place, I've got to go, I love you guys.

If you must reach me I'll be in my room.  levinedv@is.nyu.edu
