NASE Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Helping educate the leaders of tomorrow.

As student loan programs shrink and government programs face cuts, the NASE is continuing its investment in tomorrow's entrepreneurs by offering an outstanding scholarship program.

The NASE is proud to offer, through the NASE Foundation, Inc., a $12,000 Future Entrepreneur of the Year award and 22 $4,000 scholarships. Since the establishment of the program in 1989, more than $455,000 has been awarded in total scholarships.

The $12,000 Future Entrepreneur of the Year, the largest scholarship award offered by a small-business organization, is presented by the NASE in support of the growing trend toward entrepreneurship in America and the many advantages of being self-employed. In 1996 more than 580 young people applied for the award.

The 1996 winner was Jeffrey Davis, an 18-year-old from Winnsboro, Texas. Davis has been paving his own path to success for more than six years by working for his family, managing a mini-golf course and starting his own deejay business. He plans to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce and pursue degrees in psychology and radio/television communications.

In 1995, Ethan Pagliaro, a 23 -year-old entrepreneur from Cincinnati, Ohio, won the award. He used the scholarship to continue his education at North Park College and Theological Seminary in Chicago, and is looking toward the future as an entrepreneur.

The NASE Scholarship Program is open to people age 16-24, who are considered legal dependents of NASE members in good standing, and includes natural children, stepchildren, adopted children, and grandchildren when defined as legal dependents. High school students and college undergraduates planning to enroll as full time students on the Fall 1997 semester may apply.

Consideration will be given to leadership abilities such as dedication, commitment, ingenuity and desire; above average academic performance; school and community participation; work experience; career/educational goals; and recommendations of a teacher or other reference. Financial need is considered only as a final screen.
