Date: Thu, 11 Mar 1999 11:13:04 EST Subject: Radio Mods: ICT2H - From the Files of KB7ISR ICT2H This is a wonderful radio and capable of so much. We have successfully expanded these radios using the procedure described below. There is a receive only modification by keypad (Software). There is also these modifications which are permanent (Hardware). Do not attempt this modifcation unless you are familiar with surface mount technology. Modification as follows: To expand the receive frequency range: Remove the D34 diode on the main board. To expand the transmit frequency range: Remove the D18 diode on the main board. These diodes are in the center of the main board near a large ground area. Approximately 1" up, third and fourth surface mount devices from the bottom center. After modification the radio performs spectacularly from about 130 MHz to 180 MHz. The unit retains full sensitivity and power through the entire range. Display will read from 100 MHz to 200 MHz but only performs in the range listed above. There are no guarantees of coverage outside the ham bands. This modification is for experimental purposes only. Keypad Mod: Turn your radio off, hold SP and up scan arrow down while turning on the radio and don't release for 5 seconds. Have fun. KB7ISR P.S. This unlocks readout from 100-200 mHz and actually recieves about 130-180 mHz. 73's from KB7ISR
