Installation and System Requirements
Platforms supported by Templeton
In order to run Templeton, you should have the correct executable for your
operating system. Please select your operating system and platform from
the list below:
Other operating systems, such as IRIX, HP-UX, DOS with Windows 3.1, Windows NT,
or Win95 may be supported in the future depending upon customer demand.
Note: Hard disk requirements are not listed. The Templeton executable is
relatively small. However, the data copied from remote WWW
sites may be large and you should probably have between 2 and 50 Megs of disk
space for mirroring (depending on your usage).
System Requirements: OS/2 3.0 (Warp) or later, TCP/IP 2.0 or the
IBM Internet Connection for OS/2. HPFS prefered, but it runs fine under
FAT -- just truncate all names to 8 characters. For example,
templeton.exe becomes templeto.exe.
Required Files:
- The Templeton executable: templeton.exe. This file should be
placed in the tcpip/bin directory.
- The Templeton configuration file: Templeton.cfg or
Templeto.cfg. The file with the system defaults should be placed in
the tcpip/etc directory.
- The EMX runtime libraries version 0.9a or later. This is available
via anonymous FTP from Hobbes or
OS/2 CD-ROM from the os2/unix
subdirectory.
- The termcap.dat file installed and configured for your display. This
is available via anonymous FTP from Hobbes
or OS/2 CD-ROM from the os2/unix
subdirectory.
- The testcfg.sys device driver. This comes with OS/2 and should
already be installed in your config.sys file.
To run Templeton, type templeton.exe at the command prompt. The current
revision of Templeton is text-only (no GUI). If there is a show of support
for this application, then I will create a GUI in future releases.
System Requirements: Linux Slakware version 3.0 or later
(1.2.13 kernel or later).
Required Files:
- The Templeton executable: tlinux. This file should be placed
in the /etc/bin or /etc/local/bin (or your own favorite BIN)
directory.
This file must run with effective super-user access, otherwise, it will only
run in unregistered mode.
- The Templeton configuration file: templeton.cfg. This file
should exist in the /etc directory for the system defaults.
Not yet released.
System Requirements: SunOS version 4.1.3 or Solaris 2.x in SunOS
compatability mode.
Required Files:
- The Templeton executable: tsunos. This file should be placed
in the /etc/bin or /etc/local/bin directory
(or somewhere in your PATH)
- The Templeton configuration file: templeton.cfg. This file
should exist in the /etc directory for the system defaults.
- Individual users may use a .templetonrc configuration in their home directories.
To run Templeton, type tsunos at the command prompt. Optionally,
this executable may be renamed to templeton.
The current revision of Templeton is text-only (no X-windows support).
A GUI may be created in future releases.
