Trouble-Shooting Guide

  • TheDJ logo pulses until it says 'Click to re-try network connection'

    1. You must be logged on to the Internet with at least a 28.8k connection when you're using TheDJ Player.
    2. You might be behind a firewall. If so, then you'll need to update the proxies for TheDJ Player.
      • Go within the Menu and choose the Proxies tab. Update the proxy here. If you're not sure what your proxy is, you can check within your Network Preferences for your internet browser.
      • Go to the Options tab and choose the RealAudio preferences. Go to Proxy tab. Update the RealAudio proxy. Click OK and try listening to the music.
      • If you're still having problems, try going within the RealAudio Preferences again. Choose Transport. Choose 'Use specified transports'. Click the 'Specify transports' button. Choose 'Attempt to use TCP for all content'. Click OK and try the music again.

  • The music sounds garbled or fades in and out

    1. TheDJ server is currently located in the Bay Area of California. Sometimes the Internet becomes very crowded in Silicon Valley. If you have been experiencing poor music quality, and in particular, garbled sound, the problem is probably packet loss. You can monitor the Quality Bar at the bottom of TheDJ Player, and if you see Red...you're losing packets.
    2. Try listening to the music in mono (this option uses less bandwidth). Press Stop on TheDJ Player. Press Menu. Options Tab. Click Mono. Click OK, and try listening to the Music.
    3. If you have a faster connection than 28.8k, you can try using the TCP option within RealAudio preferences. Press Stop on TheDJ Player. Press Menu. Options Tab. Click RealAudio Options. Choose Transport. Choose 'Use specified transports'. Click the 'Specify transports' button. Choose 'Attempt to use TCP for all content'. Click OK and try the music again. Sometimes the quality is better.
    4. Try listening to the music at different times during the day.
