This anti-spam program is an add-in to Outlook (2000 and XP) that uses pattern recognition to sort email. Audiotrieve's InBoxer is very effective at blocking spam while still allowing through legitimate email. It integrates with MS Outlook 2000 or later (not Express) and filters messages immediately after they arrive in your inbox.
At first, you must 'train' the filter to distinguish between spam and ham (legitimate messages) by manually marking the messages in your inbox as emails that you want to keep or emails that you want to block. The filter uses a technique called Bayesian analysis to learn from this process, eventually being able to keep and block messages without your intervention.

Unlike other spam blockers, Spam Daemon does not use dictionary word lists or content filters to distinguish spam messages from legitimate mail. The program uses the unusual method of making your correspondents 'qualify' to send you email. Works with MS Outlook 2000 or later.
This system may well not suit everyone, but it is an intriguing workable solution. Senders must reply to a confirmation message, proving that their messages are being sent from a working email address. This only happens once for each new correspondent. As soon as they click Reply, they are authorised and can begin sending you mail.

SpamButcher is an easy to use anti-Spam filter that checks for new messages in your inbox at specified intervals and, if it finds any Spam, moves messages to a holding area for your later examination or deletion. The program utilises a fuzzy logic system that offers three levels of aggressiveness. During our tests, it detected a high percentage of Spam, with almost no false positives.
SpamButcher works directly on your POP3 mailbox and runs independently of any email program. Unfortunately, you cannot modify or add any filter settings, however you can add senders to a WhiteList or BlackList in order to keep their mail from being accidentally filtered. The filtered email is saved and can be purged after review or automatically at specified intervals. The Butcher can send you scheduled reports of all intercepted Spam via email.
The program requires MS Internet explorer 4 or later and does not work with AOL, MSN or Hotmail.
