NewtKEmu v1.00

Introduction

NewtKEmu is a Newton keyboard emulator for the PsionS5 and all Epoc32 devices. It will emulate a Newton Keyboard through the PsionS5's RS232 serial port, enabling the PsionS5 to control a Newton, a PalmPilot or a WindowsCE PPC or HPC.

All non-Newton devices will require a small utility from a third party developer that can interpret the Newton keyboard protocol (ie Freekey or Keyz for PalmPilot, NewtonKey or HKKey for WindowsCE. A null-modem cable may be required to connect the devices.

Please refer to the NewtKEmu webpage at http://www.shoresystems.net/palmtime/ for links to these utilities.

Hardware Setup

Troubleshooting

The cable between the Newton keyboard and the Newton is, AFAIK, a null-modem cable.

If there is only one null-modem serial cable (the PsionS5's sync cable), then simply make a direct connection to the device.

If there is two null-modem serial cable (the PsionS5's sync cable and another cable such has the WindowsCE's sync cable), you will need a third null-modem serial cable, three null-modem serial cables acts like one.

That's all for now !
