Webtribe gives you access to the Internet and the basics you'd expect, like free Web space (10Mb), news and email. The service is free, though you still pay for your phone time, so be ready for some cost-cutting areas like support by email only. Webtribe guarantees a "comparable level of service to the '£10 a month' Internet Service Providers".

To get online and sign up to Webtribe, copy the webtribe folder from the software\windows\bits folder on the CD to your hard drive and run the utility setup1.bat from there.

Take the guesswork out of sizing images for your Web pages. This useful tool can be dragged around the screen, resized, scaled, flipped and marked just as you would a real ruler. Clicking on the links below should set the process in motion. You may receive a message that the file cannot be loaded into Simple Text – if so, start Stuffit and then open the HQX file you want from within Stuffit.

By scanning folders and applications you've selected based on filters you design, Version Master searches its database of over 60,000 titles then tells you what latest versions are available. Version Master can also notify you of software updates via email as they become available and can update its database when you visit the VM Web site.

This program will automatically submit your Web site to the most popular search engines, including Lycos, HotBot and AltaVista. Be Found also automatically creates keywords for your site, allows easy editing of title, keywords, description, and many other aspects of your Web site, and allows absolute control over the meta tags of your site with an easy-to-use user interface. You even get a free built-in FTP client for uploading your Web pages. The unregistered version does not allow saving, and only submits to AltaVista.
