Desktop Control

A Windows 95/NT Wallpaper Utility

Latest Version: 1.2 - 4/28/98 - Release Notes - dc.zip

What is Desktop Control?

Desktop Control is a freeware utility which automatically rotates your Windows 95/NT wallpaper on startup and then on regular user-defined intervals.

It supports a wide variety of source file formats in addition to standard BMP and DIB files: PICT (Macintosh), TGA, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, and GIF.

How do I use it?

Simply designate a folder on your hard drive as your repository for wallpaper images. Dragging new files of any supported format into this folder will cause Desktop Control to work them into the rotation. Alternatively, you can drag files directly on top of the Desktop Control main window, which will automatically copy them to your current wallpaper directory.

The first time you run Desktop Control, it will prompt you to enter your preferences: select a directory from which Desktop Control is to grab images, set the rotation interval, and you are ready to go!

Obviously a shortcut to Desktop Control should be placed in your "StartUp" folder to facilitate automatic launch of Desktop Control. Five seconds after launch, Desktop Control will either automatically minimize itself to your system traybar or quit, depending on the rotation interval setting. To restore the main window, setup window, or to rotate the backdrop, right-click on the traybar icon.

Why Desktop Control?
