To create a background like this...

  1. From the Insert menu choose Background.
  2. Click the square on the left to select it. Be careful not to move it.
  3. From the Format menu choose Fill. Change the fill color to blue.
  4. From the Format menu choose Shadow. Click More Fills to open the Fill dialog; change the shadow color to yellow and click OK.
  5. Move the Blur Amount slider all the way to the left to remove all blur.
  6. Move the vertical position slider to the center tick mark so the shadow is not below or above the object. Move the horizontal position slider one tick to the right from the center and click OK.
  7. Click the rectangle immediately to the right of the blue square to select it. Be careful not to move it.
  8. From the Format menu choose Fill. Change the fill color to tan.

  9. TIP: In the Fill dialog, you can choose a color by clicking on the desired color, by entering the HTML code in Web color (for example #800040), or by specifying an RGB value (for example R=128, G=0, B=64). You can also quickly match a color from another graphic or web page by moving the cursor out of the Fill dialog, over a color you want to use, and pressing the Control key briefly.
