Advanced Features S.A.L. This component has the ability to automatically control the pre-amp from WinAmp's EQ so the output volume of your sound files remain equal regardless of the volume level at which the media files where recorded. Since the our level of perception of audio signals behaves in logarithmic scale, SABS will try to adjust the output level in that same manner. This way, the changes in the final output level are virtually imperceptible since the correction will be made in step changes according to the scale into which the error enters in relation to the set point.
When you set the S.A.L. set point to a given value, SABS will try to make the output volume constant by amplifying the softer sounds and limiting the louder ones. You can use the VU meter as a visual reference of where to set the S.A.L. set point. The best values usually range around 20 and 30 (you can
see the S.A.L. set point value while you drag the slider). NOTE: The S.A.L. control will only work on media files that:
Silence Detection In the Preferences dialog, under the Mixer tab you'll find the option to set the maximum silence time SABS will allow at the end of every song. This is useful if you want to skip the silence that appears at the end of some media files and make the transition between songs a lot faster. NOTE: The same rules that affect the functionality of the S.A.L. control apply to the silence detection module. See also: |
