Activating QuarkXPress

If QuarkXPress has not yet been activated on your computer, the QuarkXPress Product Activation dialog box displays at launch. From this dialog box, you can activate QuarkXPress in the following ways:

  • Activate automatically using internet (Recommended):  This is the fastest and most efficient way to activate QuarkXPress. It requires only a few seconds and does not require you to enter the installation code. To activate QuarkXPress using this option, you must have an Internet connection on your computer.

  • Activate manually using activation form: Use this option if you do not have an Internet connection, or if activation using the Activate automatically using internet option fails. This is a manual process and requires you to enter the installation code in the activation form.

  • Have Activation Code? Activate Now: Use this option if you have the activation code but have not yet activated QuarkXPress on your computer.

You can also activate QuarkXPress over the telephone.

Note: Never activate QuarkXPress on a computer other than the one you will be using.

Activating QuarkXPress using the Internet

To activate QuarkXPress over the Internet automatically:

  1. Click Activate automatically using internet and then click Continue.  An installation key is sent to Quark, and then Quark generates the activation key that corresponds to that installation key and sends that activation key to your computer.

  2. Click Done.

Activating QuarkXPress using the activation form

To activate QuarkXPress over the Internet using the activation form, use the following procedure. (If you do not have Internet access on the computer on which QuarkXPress is installed, but you have Internet access from another computer, simply copy the activation URL, the installation code, and your serial number to the computer with Internet access, and then follow these steps.)

  1. Click Activate manually using activation form and then click Continue.

  2. Click the provided link to obtain the activation form. Alternatively, you can click this link: www.quark.com/products/xpress/tech_info/product_activation

  3. On the resulting Web page, click Online reactivation form, enter the installation code displayed in the QuarkXPress Product Activation dialog box, and then submit the form. A 47-digit activation code is displayed.

    Alternatively, you can click Activation form, fill out the form provided in PDF format, and then either e-mail the form to Quark at activation@quark.com or fax the form to the number specified on the form. Quark will send your 47-digit activation code via e-mail or fax, depending on how it was requested. When filling out the activation form, you must enter the serial number for your copy of QuarkXPress. The serial number is a 13-digit alphanumeric code starting with WX or XU. To view the serial number for your copy of QuarkXPress, launch the application, then press Option/Ctrl and choose About QuarkXPress from the QuarkXPress/Help menu. The QuarkXPress Environment dialog box displays. The third item from the top is the serial number.

  4. Enter or paste the activation code in the Activation code fields. Do not enter extra characters such as spaces and hyphens.

  5. Click Activate. When activation is complete, an alert displays.

  6. Click Done. 

Activating QuarkXPress when you already have the activation code

To activate QuarkXPress using an existing activation code:

  1. Click Have Activation Code? Activate Now and then click Continue.

  2. Enter or paste the activation code in the Activation Code fields. If you enter the code manually, do not enter extra characters such as spaces and hyphens. If you paste the code, hyphens are automatically ignored.

  3. Click Activate. When activation is complete, an alert displays.

  4. Click Done.

If you are unable to activate QuarkXPress on your computer, activate QuarkXPress over the telephone.

Activating QuarkXPress over the telephone

If you are unable to activate QuarkXPress on your computer, you can activate QuarkXPress over the telephone. To do so:

  1. Click Telephone Activation in the QuarkXPress Product Activation dialog box.

  2. Choose your country from the Your Country drop-down menu. The number in the Telephone Number field changes according to the country you choose.

  3. Call the number displayed in the Telephone Number field and read the 47-digit installation code to the Quark representative. The Quark representative will provide you an activation code generated from the installation code you provided. Be sure to save this activation code in case you need to re-activate QuarkXPress on the same computer in the future.

  4. Enter or paste the activation code in the Activation Code fields. If you enter the code manually, do not enter extra characters such as spaces and hyphens. If you paste the code, hyphens are automatically ignored.

  5. Click Activate. When activation is complete, an alert displays.

  6. Click Done.
