DigiTV Web Interface

Overview

Imagine the frustration of going away on holiday for a couple of weeks only to realise once you've unpacked your bags in Peru that you've forgotten to set the Timers to record all the episodes of Eastenders/Corrie/Neighbours while you're away.

If you have access to an internet connection (and your DigiTV machine is connected and accessible on the web) then the problem is no more.

Using the Network Settings page in DigiTV you can configure it to act as its own web server so that you can have remote access over the most common DigiTV functions.

The web address you use to connect to the DigiTV web server depends largely on where you're trying to connect from.

If you're connecting from the same machine as the DigiTV web server, then you can use:

http://localhost:2880 or http://127.0.0.1:2880

If you're connecting from a machine on the same LAN as the DigiTV web server, then you might use:

http://192.168.0.63:2880 where 192.168.0.63 is the local IP address of the DigiTV web server

Or if you're connecting from a machine on the internet, then you might use:

http://62.201.128.127:2880 where 62.201.128.127 is the static internet IP address of the DigiTV web server.

In this latter case, you can also substitute your server's DNS name for the IP address, eg http://www.mymachine.net:2880

Logging In

Because a web server (almost by definition) can be accessed from anywhere in the world, security is an important issue. If you have set a username and password in the Network Settings dialog box, then you'll be presented with a box asking you to provide the correct information when you connect (similar to the one on the right).

Providing incorrect details, or attempting to close the login box will cause access to be denied, but if you login successfully you'll have access to each of the HTML pages below:

  • Status Page
  • Programme Guide Page
  • Timers Page
  • Recordings Pages
