DigiTV Web Page Interface

DigiTV is capable of acting as a web server providing a series of HTML pages allowing remote control of its common functions via an external web browser - even from abroad.

The pages have been designed to be compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Netscape web browsers.

The options here are pretty much self explanatory, with the exception of the HTTP port number. Normally HTML from web pages are transmitted over port 80, but this option allows you to specify a port that will be unique to the DigiTV web server. Please note that any firewalls you have in place should be configured to allow passthrough of the port you use (2880 is the default).

The standard syntax for accessing an HTTP port from a web browser's address entry is:

http://"IPADDRESS":"PORTNUMBER"

for example:

http://192.168.0.10:2880

Only one user at an IP address is permitted to access the DigiTV web server at a time from an external browser. If another user at a different IP address attempts to make a connection while a user is already logged on, they will be denied access.

Randomised encryption of the username and password is provided as an option, and for security this box should be ticked. However, if programmatical access to the DigiTV web server is required then this option should be disabled to allow the external program to supply the correct access details.

If no username or password is set in this settings dialog box, the user will not be asked for any authentication details and will be given immediate access to the DigiTV web pages. However, the rule about single IP address accessability still holds.
