Spyware |
Spyware is programs and cookies that use your Internet connection to gather and transmit information about you. In other words, it 'spies' on you. For example, a Spyware program might gather the IP address of your computer, the browser you are using or your browsing behavior.
Spyware is often downloaded without your knowledge or consent, and is often hidden within legitimate downloads (this is commonly known as a Trojan).
Spyware is also referred to as a type of Browser Helper Object (BHO).
