Additional miscellaneous tweaks:

  • Disable compressed folders: Windows XP supports .zip files. To disable this feature, check this checkbox of Tweak-XP.

  • Disable Desktop Cleanup Wizard: this option disables the Windows XP Desktop cleanup wizard which can be used to remove unused shortcuts etc. from the desktop.

  • Disable the thumbnail cache: Check this option to stop explorer from caching thumbnail pictures and instead refresh any images every time a folder is opened.

  • Enable window tracking using your mouse cursor: Use this option to control the window focus using the mouse cursor, by making an application active simply by moving your mouse cursor over it.

  • Detect accidental double clicks: Use this feature to control whether explorer should automatically detect accidental double mouse clicks.

  • Disable Run Commands spcified in the Windows Registry: these settings do allow to disable a specific key of the registry autostart section.

  • Disable the Windows XP Error reports: this setting disables the auto error reports and error report dialog boxes.

Speed up network access:

  • Windows XP checks a remote computer for scheduled tasks before it gives you access to any shared folder. This procedure can take up to 30 seconds and does slow down network access enormously. To speed up your network connections, check the option below and restart your machine. This will force Windows XP not to check for any scheduled tasks on a remote computer.
     

Specify OEM Info on 'System properties' page:

  • Here you can specify your own OEM information which will displayed on the 'System propperties' dialog of Windows XP. Click the 'Example' button for an example.
