Tutorials

The best way to learn how to play the Magic game is from a friend, but someone has to be the first on your block to learn. And even if you already know how to play Magic, you'll need to learn the Magic Online interface. With the Magic Online tutorials, you can learn the basics of the game on your own. After that, you'll be playing your own decks and making new friends in no time.

You can find the Tutorials room in the Training Room. Magic Online includes two guided game tutorials—a Basic Game and an Advanced Game—as well as short tutorials about Expert Mechanics.

Which tutorial is right for me ?
If you've never played the Magic game before, or if you need a quick refresher course, start with the Basic Game tutorial.

The Advanced Game tutorial teaches you more complex concepts, such as what the stack is.

The Expert Mechanics tutorials give quick rundowns of mechanics, like threshold, that you might come across in expert-level sets.

What do I do after I learn to play?
Once you know how to play, click the Practice Games icon in the Training Room. You'll be taken to a room where you can play games for free using Seventh Edition theme decks against other new Magic Online players. (The Seventh Edition set is just the seventh edition of the Magic basic set.) Each theme deck contains cards from one of the five Magic colors.
